My first crystal

I was never really a fan of crystals.

My maternal family runs a jewellery business which I often come across seeing diamonds, golds, etc... No quite interested. No quite understood how these are so pricy. But, one thing I know, if you were to make me choose, I would choose a gem with colour in it.

Only when I was in my late thirties that I came across my first gem at a handmade market during work. I starred at it, not knowing why it caught my eyes, but I just loved it, then the next day, I starred at it again. Then the next, then the next, then I brought it home on the last day of the market.

It was an azeztulite. And of course, I wouldn't know what it was at that time. It was this "weird" connection I had with it, that I start to perceive crystals and gems differently. They connect with you as if they had their own stories wanting to tell you. After some years came the birth of Napping Hay.

As a continuation of the last blog about pricing, I was going through each piece individually and asking them which category would they want me to put them in for them to reach their new home. The azeztulite batch had completely... stunned me. Almost all of them are asking at a very low price - $55, 100... even $22. Honestly, I do struggle when I see this. As you may suspect already, acquiring them from my upstream cost more than this.

Yet, who am I to judge at the end. So, the struggle didn't quite last that long.

I began to notice the other side of their story. To azeztulite, they didn't quite care what price tag they get, in fact, the higher it is, the less the chance they get to reach out. The currently market can price them in thousands! Though, I do believe they would rather be connected with us than being placed in a museum. But, we as humans, we would always like to intervene!

We intervene nature, we intervene rather a forest should be there, we intervene animal lives, we intervene how much a bunny should be sold at a pet store, we intervene the fate of all these... Yet, at the end, when you take a little pause in life, then you would notice that all these only would like to be by our side.

Even though, we are the channels for them to find their home, we should also keep in mind to minimize our interference. Shall just let the river flows to whereever, however, whatever.
